Western Illinois University, International Scholarships for Masters and Bachelor 2023

International students can enjoy several scholarships from WIU including the International Commitment Scholarship, which provides up to $8,000 per year to undergraduates who have met the criteria of outstanding academic performance, community involvement, and leadership. The scholarship can be renewed for up to four years provided the student meets the academic requirement.

WIU also provides an International Student Scholarship of up to $5,000 per year to qualified international undergraduate and graduate students who have demonstrated academic excellence as well as financial need. As long as the student maintains satisfactory academic progress, this scholarship is renewable for up to four years for undergraduate students and up to two years for graduate students.

International Undergraduate Commitment Scholarship

Students who are awarded the International Undergraduate Commitment Scholarship will have access to the following award benefits:

• $4,000 – 8,000 per year, available fall and spring semester
• $8,000 per year: 3.5 GPA confirmed by WIU
• $6,000 per year: 3.0 GPA confirmed by WIU
• $4,000 per year: 2.5 GPA confirmed by WIU

Eligibility Criteria

Students must meet the following criteria to qualify for the International Undergraduate Commitment Scholarship:

• The scholarship eligibility of the applicant is determined at the time of evaluation for admission
• After the point of admission, applicants will not be reconsidered for scholarships if additional coursework is completed ( an in-progress degree is completed after students have been granted admission to WIU). This also means that the scholarship cannot be awarded to students after they have arrived on campus. If you will find it more advantageous to you you can choose to submit your application after completion.
• The scholarship is renewable for up to three years or until the student receives a degree, whichever comes first.
• For renewal, a 3.0 cumulative GPA must be maintained
• Continuous enrollment is required (prorated to $750 per three semesters if an immigration exemption is granted for the final semester).
• 50% of the scholarship will be awarded in the fall semester and the remaining 50% will be awarded in the spring semester. The scholarship is not available to students who are on an NGO or a government sponsorship program except with a bilateral agreement
• Recipients can enroll in summer school at in-state rates.
• Students who are enrolled in an online study are eligible
• The scholarship only applies to WIU tuition. there is no provision for a cash refund.

International Graduate Commitment Scholarship

Students who qualify will be awarded $4,000 per year, available fall and spring semesters.

Eligibility Criteria

• Must be a non-sponsored, newly admitted international student to WIU for the first time.
• Possess a minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale as confirmed by WIU
• Your scholarship eligibility will be determined at the time of evaluation for admission
• After the point of admission, applicants will not be reconsidered for scholarships if additional coursework is completed ( an in-progress degree is completed after students have been granted admission to WIU). This also means that the scholarship cannot be awarded to students after they have arrived on campus. If you will find it more advantageous to you you can choose to submit your application after completion.
• The scholarship is renewable for a second year as long as a 3.0 GPA is maintained
• Continuous enrollment is required (prorated to $500 per three semesters if an immigration exemption is granted for the final semester).
• 50% will be awarded in the fall semester and 50% will be awarded by the spring semester.
• Recipients are eligible to enroll in summer school at in-state rates.
• Students who enrolled in online studies are eligible
• A graduate assistantship-receiving student is not eligible for this award
• The scholarship only applies to WIU tuition with no cash refund is availability.

International Undergraduate Transfer Commitment

The International Undergraduate Transfer Commitment provides an annual award to incoming transfer, non-sponsored international students enrolling at WIU for the first time.

Award: $4,000 – $8,000 per year, available fall and spring semesters.

Eligibility Criteria

• $8,000 per year: 3.5 GPA per year
• $6,000 per year: 3.00 GPA
• $4,000 per year: 2.5 GPA
• The Scholarship eligibility (ICS & UGRDS) of the student is determined at the time of evaluation for admission
• After the point of admission, applicants will not be reconsidered for scholarships if additional coursework is completed ( an in-progress degree is completed after students have been granted admission to WIU). This also means that the scholarship cannot be awarded to students after they have arrived on campus. If you will find it more advantageous to you you can choose to submit your application after completion.
• The scholarship is renewable for up to three years or until the student receives a degree, whichever comes first.
• Students who wish to maintain and renew their scholarship must meet a cumulative GPA of 3.0 criteria.
• Recipients must have earned a minimum of 24 college credits, and eligibility is determined by college GPA.
• Continuous full-time enrollment (prorated to $750 per 3 SH if an immigration exemption has been granted for the final semester)
• 50% of the scholarship will be awarded in the fall semester and the remaining 50% will be awarded in the spring semester. The scholarship is not available to students who are on an NGO or a government sponsorship program except with a bilateral agreement
